The Gas Gas star is going to have lots of incentives this season to become the Spanish rider with more victories in the World Championship and equal Dougie Lampkin’s record. "In this new season it’s important to start as hard as possible from the first round on" says the Catalan rider. "I start the season very motivated because it’s a championship that I like a lot. I’m looking forward to the rounds ridden in our country, because there our fans can see us in action". "2005 as well as 2006 have been great seasons, I won the Indoor and the Outdoor World Championships. I know it’s something very difficult to repeat such success, but it’s my aim," he concluded. Alongside the World Champion, three more spanish riders will take part in the firts round. Spanish Champion Albert Cabestany, Toni Bou and Jeroni Fajardo are joined by Japanese rider Takahisha Fujinami and Polish star Tadeusz Blazusiak. Both Catalans will be making their debuts for the Repsol Montesa-HRC and Beta teams, respectively. The first race of the 2007 season will start at 12pm local time (GMT+1), with a one lap classification run and a final stage battle between the three riders with best score. It is the third time that Granada hosts a GP of the World Championship, although it is the first occasion in which the Andalusian circuit has opened a season. Raga won the first time, whilst in the following event the Sherco rider Albert Cabestany completed a Spanish podium alongside Raga and Bou. |
