Rules

Indoor Trial World Championship is one of the most spectacular individual competitions in the professional motor sport.

During tahe competitions the sportsmen overcome specially constructed obstacles of various forms and sizes.

Indoor Trial World Championship Rules

Each stage of the Indoor Trial World Championship consists of two rounds.

  • In the first round the riders (five participants and two wild card winners as determined by FIM) clear single obstacles in their world rating order (7th, 6th, etc.). Each rider's tries are limited to a certain time. When he should fail to complete the stage in time, one penalty point will be awarded per 30 late seconds. Another penalty point is given for each time the rider touches the obstacle with his hand or foot. After more than three touches five penalty points are given. Five penalty points are also assigned if the rider should fall or fail to overcome an obstacle. After the athlete passes all obstacles, he clears the high jump springboard. No penalty points are given if every plank remains standing; if one plank goes down, the rider receives one penalty point, two points for two planks, three points for three planks and five points for four planks.
  • Based on the two-round standing the riders are split into pairs and pass parallel obstacles (#5 and #6, #3 and #4, #2 and #1). After the parallel race, the losing rider gets one penalty point.
  • Three riders with the least number of penalty points proceed to second round. They once again pass single obstacles over a given period of time, but in the reverse order, from the last to the first. After clearing four obstacles, the riders pass obstacles in pairs (#1 and #2, #1 and #3, #2 and #3). Then they continue with the remaining single obstacles. Each stage is completed by passing a springboard.
  • The winning rider is the one with the fewest penalty points. Should two riders have the same number of points after the last obstacle they are paired to overcome another obstacle.
